The Opportunity

We’re looking for a commercially driven Commercial Director to identify and develop new sales opportunities for our in-store digital media division including digital signage and in-store radio with a focus on building lasting retailer partnerships. This is a senior leadership role: you’ll own the new-business agenda, lead our pre-sales / solutions team, and take a permanent seat on our Executive (EXCO) and Management (MANCO) committees. You’ll be the commercial engine that turns retailer relationships into long-term, value-adding revenue. Above all, we’re looking for someone who knows how to sell into retailers. If you’ve built and won business with retail clients, you’re exactly who we want to talk to, technical knowledge of AV or digital signage is a welcome bonus, not a prerequisite.

What You’ll Do

  • Identify, qualify and win new business across our in-store digital media offering digital signage and in-store radio, consistently meeting or exceeding revenue, margin and activity targets.
  • Build and nurture long-term, trusted-advisor relationships with retailers and key industry partners.
  • Lead, mentor and manage the pre-sales / solutions team, ensuring high-quality proposals, designs and customer engagements.
  • Sit on EXCO and MANCO, providing weekly pipeline and forecast reporting, and flagging risks and mitigation against GP targets.
  • Maintain a strong, accurately forecasted sales pipeline and analyse pipeline health, conversion and market opportunities.
  • Act as the commercial link across departments from Sales and Procurement to Projects, Service, Finance and Administration, keeping information and customer commitments flowing accurately.
  • Oversee smooth handovers from sales to delivery, ensuring customer needs are well scoped and expectations well managed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stay close to market trends, customer requirements, competitor activity and emerging technologies.

What You’ll Bring (Must-Haves)

  • A proven track record of selling into retailers this is our top priority. You understand how retail clients buy and how to build lasting partnerships with them.
  • Senior-level B2B sales and business-development experience, with a demonstrated record of consistently meeting or exceeding revenue, margin and activity targets.
  • Experience leading, mentoring and developing a sales or pre-sales / solutions team.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with excellent communication, negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Proficiency in pipeline management, forecasting and sales reporting.
  • Matric / National Senior Certificate (Grade 12), a relevant tertiary qualification, a valid driver’s licence and a willingness to travel as required.

Nice to Have (Will Set You Apart)

  • Knowledge of digital signage, in-store radio / audio or AV solutions- a genuine bonus, but we’ll bring you up to speed; your retail relationships matter more.
  • An established network within the retail sector.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in business, sales, marketing or a related commercial or technical discipline.
  • A sound understanding of the end-to-end solution and project lifecycle.
