Design Engineer – Gauteng (REF: 2547)

We are seeking a design engineer to join our corporate audio visual pre-sales team in Gauteng. This role will be client facing, and guide technical competence by supporting the sales team. A proven track record in working with large audio visual projects is a mandatory requirement.

Job Purpose:

Being the lead technical point of contact for strategic external and internal customers, developing value-added sales relationships by ensuring that they have prioritized service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as the lead point of contact for technical-level sales-related matters for both internal and external customers.
Develop new business with existing clients and identify areas of improvement to meet sales targets.
Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships through a trusted-advisor consultative approach.
Negotiate contracts and close agreements to maximize profits, escalating to management where applicable in terms of deal size and commercial risk.
Develop and implement strategy to grow sales, clearly communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to management.
Prepare weekly and monthly pipeline reports with as much accuracy as possible, ensuring that targets are exceeded.
Collaborate with the technical team to identify and grow opportunities.
Assist with challenging client requests, escalate to management as and when required.
By engaging with internal project teams and managing customers’ expectations, ensure the timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to customer needs and objectives where practicable.

Requirements:

This is a reasonably technical position and candidates must have a good understanding of design and implementation of modern audio visual solutions. The successful candidate will have experience in most of the following:

Advanced audio-visual, unified communication (video conferencing, voice, and VMR), and networking experience and qualifications.
Advanced knowledge of programming languages used in audio-visual products such as Crestron, AMX, Kramer, and Extron.
Costing and proposal experience for large projects.
Knowledge of project management techniques.
Ability to work with architectural drawings, as well as CAD system design software.
